Passive House for Construction Professionals & Management

Course overview

After completion of initial training, this course will give you the confidence to lead on a retrofit of existing buildings or new build projects to super low energy buildings. Topics covered include: General principles, Building envelopes and building services in Passive House.

• Entry Requirements
  Candidates will already possess the relevant skills required for construction work through their initial training.
• Benefits/Skills

  These skills will enable the learner to understand the concepts of a building built to Passive House standards. The knowledge of Airtightness, thermal bridging, ventilation, insulation and fitting the correct windows and doors will be paramount in the building of a Passive House.

  As a key decision maker, designer, leader or manager the skills developed could be used as a starting point in the Passive House industry. Retrofitting older buildings will also be covered as part of the course.

  Careers in retrofit are up and coming, this initial training can set you up to carry out retrofit in housing stock or build and maintain Passive House / low energy buildings using the techniques shown. Progression going forward could be towards the following courses and certification:

  • EnerPHit certified retrofit - refurbishment projects standard
  • PHconsultant certified
  • Certified passive house tradesperson
• Assessment Types
  After completion of this course, candidates will undertake an internationally accredited "Certified Passive House Tradesperson / Contractor" examination.
