Course overview

This T Level has been structured to offer a breadth of knowledge and understanding across the Building Services Engineering industry. It will prepare you for a career as an electrotechnical engineer, more commonly referred to as an installation electrician.

In studying this course, you will gain the necessary core and occupational skills to enter this hands-on industry. This qualification has also been designed to support fair access, allowing you to manage and improve your own performance.

  • Entry Requirements
    A grade 5 or above in GCSE English and GCSE Maths. You will also need a passing grade in three other GCSE subjects.

    • Health and safety practices associated with electrotechnical systems engineering, ensuring you are working safely and no one is adversely affected by anything you are doing
    • Installation methods and termination of connections, including the various containment systems and wiring practices used in the industry today
    • Systems and products used in electrotechnical engineering - from cabling and fasteners to connectors and protective devices
    • Analysing and using information from electrotechnical systems, enabling you to know when a system is safe to use and when it should be t taken out of service
    • Removal processes as part of system decommissioning - making everything safe for future trades

    Learners aged 16-19 years old who are wishing to work within building services engineering.. Learners who complete this qualification will receive the correct support and training to develop to fully occupied competence.
