College reopening for testing from 8 to 19 March
College will reopen only for testing from 8 to 19 March. This is to make sure that every opportunity is taken to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our college and wider community.
From Monday 8 March, we will be testing all full-time students and specific adult groups identified by the college management team.
These are Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) and all students are expected to take the tests, however consent is required.
We have designed the testing so that we can test all identified groups three times before returning to face-to-face teaching. We believe this approach allows the minimum disruption to students, staff and learning and allows us to return to face-to-face teaching in the most efficient and safe way.
Online learning will continue until 22 March for these groups, after which they will return to college.
All other adult groups will return to face-to-face teaching after the Easter holidays.
To keep us even safer on campus, you will be given a testing group and must only come in when told to do so. Check this testing timetable for more information.
This has been planned to make sure every student is tested three times before the return to on-site learning. After this, tests will be taken at home twice per week.
You must only come in if you are on this timetable, if you are not, you will be returning to college for face-to-face learning after Easter, while completing home testing.
We’ve created a helpful video to show how testing is done at college.
You will need to give consent before your first test. Please complete this consent form.
We are encouraging all families to support student testing in line with government expectations so that we can reduce Covid-19 cases and protect our NHS and communities.
If you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 90 days, you must fill in this form. If you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 90 days, you must not come to college for testing, and will return to college on the week beginning 22 March.
Data will be gathered for internal collection and this will be shared with NHS Test and Trace. The Privacy Notice on information collection is here.

Safety measures on campus
Our college has had successful safety measures in place to control the virus and these tests are now an additional safety measure.
Returning to college is important for the quality of our students’ learning and wellbeing. We will continue to take safety measures seriously to keep our students and staff safe.
- testing for staff and students (as described above)
- the continuation of social distancing measures
- wearing face coverings
- the ‘bubble’ grouping system
- increased hand sanitiser stations on campus
