Gain new skills and progress to an apprenticeship, vocational qualification, new job or step up to a senior position within the workplace. Benefit from a fully-funded qualification and get ahead in your career by acquiring sector-specific skills demanded by local employers.

These courses are free with no cost for applicants as [re]boot is funded by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

18th Edition Wiring Regulations

The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is an important requirement and will provide individuals with up-to-date knowledge and theoretical understanding of the regulations needed to work and operate within the electrical industry. This free course focuses on how to navigate the BS7671, and also provides information on fundamental principles, safety, equipment, inspection, testing and installation. 

Start date and duration

1 June 2021 – four day course with an exam on the final day.

Introduction to Welding

Welding is an important skill in the manufacturing, construction and engineering industries. This free course provides an introduction to welding, including knowledge of equipment, MIG welding, procedures, maintenance and health and safety regulations. 

Start date and duration

Week commencing 10 May 2021 – ten sessions over a ten week period.

What’s next?

Progression from this course could allow the individual to advance within their current role, or even move into a new industry, such as manufacturing, construction and engineering.

Creative Digital Media Production

The Creative Digital Media Production course provides participants with the skills needed to produce creative digital content, particularly in the form of video and film –  mediums used globally in digital marketing, education and information sharing. 

The course will provide you with the opportunity to develop your own creative digital media product with support from your tutor. You will also learn sector-specific knowledge and skills including production, pro-production and post-production processes and techniques. 

Start date and duration

29 April 2021 – over a twelve week period from 6-8pm.

Teaching & learning methods

Interactive 1:1 sessions via remote learning.

What’s next?

Progression from this course could allow individuals to advance within their current role, or move into roles requiring digital media production, such as digital marketing.

[re]boot FREE short courses are funded by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the European Social Fund (ESF) to help people over the age of 18 to gain new skills and qualifications to either upskill in their current role or change career. Delivered by Leeds Trinity University and West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges on behalf of the LEP, courses are available in construction, digital, manufacturing and engineering, and creative industries.
