You’ll learn about vehicle electrical systems, how to replace engines and their components, along with working on chassis systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, transmission systems and inspection servicing. From this course, you can begin work in the motor trade at entry level as a service technician or diagnostic technician, or you can progress your studies with our Level 3 Study Programme.

    The motor trade is thriving and for your chance to be a part of it, the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Study Programme gives you a comprehensive look at all aspects of the motor trade and the practical skills that you’ll need to be able to diagnose and repair motor vehicles. You’ll understand engine faults, transmission issues, chassis issues and be able to fix electrical problems in cars. You’ll be trained in customer care and take part in team building exercises to prepare you for working in a garage or in a related field working with machines. You can progress to university level in a range of subjects with UCAS points, or start an Apprenticeship. You’ll also be given guidance in how to join the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) corps of the army should you want to move into uniformed service.
