We know that coming to college is about more than getting qualifications – it’s about experience, gaining confidence, trying new things and getting the most out of your time here. Our clubs and activities offer exciting opportunities to find new hobbies, make new friends and have fun outside your timetabled lessons.

Enrichment

Make the most of your time at college with our extracurricular activities. With a wide variety of clubs, trips and events on offer throughout the year, we’re sure you will find something you enjoy. Regular events and activities such as our ‘students versus staff’ football tournament, and our annual musical production, provide excellent opportunities to make new friends, develop new interests and expand your skills.

Your voice matters

Life shouldn’t be what other people tell you it should be and that’s why we want to hear your thoughts. Voice your opinions, we listen. We want you to shape the college, because who better than the students to say what students want?

This is your college and we want you, and all Harrogate College students, to have a say in shaping the college. There are a number of ways you can get involved, from suggesting an enrichment activity to becoming a class representative, we want you to get involved.

Social Action

Support a cause you care about by planning a campaign, volunteering project, or fundraiser. Leading a social action project looks great on your CV, boosts your confidence and wellbeing and benefits the wider community.

Sustainability Champions

Help drive Harrogate College’s green agenda by becoming a Sustainability Champion. If you care about the environment, and are looking to make a positive contribution to the life of the College, this is the role for you. There’s opportunities to volunteer, to create campaigns and to learn more about sustainable lifestyles.

Mental Health Champions

Mental Health Champions promote good mental health for students. They’re trained to help their fellow students with mental health concerns and also support events and campaigns that raise awareness of mental health.

Class Representatives

Our Class Representatives are the student voice for the college. Each class elects a representative to give feedback on the College, curriculum, canteen and facilities. Class Representatives drive change by asking college leads for actions and changes.

Student Union

When you join Harrogate College you automatically become a member of the HCSU, the Harrogate College Student Union. HCSU represents students’ views and creates the events and activities that students want to see. Every year, students elect a Student Union Officer, who is paid to represent students.

Everyone needs a little help from time to time. Whether there’s a particular problem you want help with, or whether you’d just like a friendly face to talk to, our staff are here to help. From academic advice, to personal problems – there is always someone you can rely on to help you.

Speak with your tutor, a member of staff you trust or contact our Pastoral team, who can offer a listening ear or signpost you to appropriate, available help.
