Your first choice for
career-focused courses
Perhaps you know where you’d like to go when you finish college – university, into a job, or onto an apprenticeship – or perhaps you’re still trying to figure it out: either way, we’re here for you.
At Harrogate College we will support you in your course choice, encourage you to do your best and help you achieve your dreams.
Whether you choose a technical course, apprenticeship or T Level, you can be assured of a warm welcome, an excellent education and a friendly face to help you should you need it.
All our courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge you need to thrive beyond college.
Our close relationships with local businesses mean the content you learn is relevant, current and covers the knowledge and skills that employers look for when recruiting.
Sometimes known as vocational courses, these programmes allow you to specialise in a subject. Teaching combines essential theory complemented with practical skills, making technical courses an excellent foundation for entering industry.
Available from Levels 1 to 3 (subject dependent), and recognised by universities and employers alike, upon completion you can progress to further study, undertake an apprenticeship or enter the world of work.
Ranging from art and design to uniformed protective services – we have a wealth of subjects from which to choose. All our courses are taught by experts, in our first-class facilities, equipping you with the skills you need to follow your dreams.
If you enjoy learning by doing, are aged 16 or over, and want to start earning – an apprenticeship could be ideal for you. Apprenticeships are work-based learning programmes, some of which can lead to recognised qualifications, all of which enable you to start working in your chosen career.
Apprentices are employed in a role – receiving a salary, and entitled to all other staff benefits – and will receive the support and guidance of the company they work for. In addition to time ‘on-the-job’, apprentices also receive off-the-job teaching, amounting to around 20% of their time (roughly 6 hours a week).
Given meaningful tasks, apprentices contribute fully to the company, while improving their skills and gaining industry knowledge.
Whether you dream of university, or starting your career, a T Level is the perfect way of realising your ambitions. If you enjoy learning theory but also want experience of putting that theory into practice, a T Level could be for you.
T Levels are a two year course, equivalent to three A Levels. They combine academic study with industry experience: 80% classroom learning and 20% work placement. Focusing on transferable skills, expert knowledge and learning, they are an ideal for those who know what they want to do for a living.
Want to go to university? The academic rigour of a T Level prepares you for university study. T Levels will get you UCAS points, and are accepted by over 160 universities in the UK.
