As an introductory course, this is really designed as a pathway for you to gain an insight into the various industries that sit within the trades. The key skills that are involved in this course will transfer well into a second year of study where you will specialise in a specific skills area. Working with various tools, equipment and materials alongside learning fundamentals of health and safety as well as working with others will give you a great introduction into the trades industry.
As an introductory course there are no formal entry requirements but there is an expectation of a great work ethic and a natural inclination to work practically. Any experience in the trades area will be beneficial but equally, those with no experience will be welcomed. A key focus of this programme is to develop employability skills and develop independent thinking skills.
These skills will give you a unique advantage in the market place as the country battles it’s national shortage of qualified tradespeople. Learn traditional techniques and basic fundamentals within a progressive and nurturing environment whereby you are encouraged to experiment with different trades, tools and materials in our industry designed workshop areas.
The Trades industry is booming, there is a national shortage of skilled trades people and the course is designed to give anyone who has an interest in practical, hands-on work an insight into the industry.
