Master your creative and digital production skills to launch your career in the creative industries with our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice.

This two-year, full-time course (equivalent to three A Levels) offers a dynamic pathway into higher education, apprenticeships, or direct entry into the creative and digital sectors, which could include:

    4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or Maths.

    You’ll develop a strong understanding of the creative industries through practical, hands-on projects that mirror real industry practices, and theoretical underpinning.

    A1: Skills Development, you will explore key fundamentals of media practice, learning how skills are integrated and connected to generate developed outcomes.

    Build an impressive professional portfolio as you explore a wide range of disciplines such:

    • Desktop Publishing
    • Digital Graphics
    • Film and Video Production
    • Game Design and Development
    • Motion Graphics
    • Visual Effects

    A2: Creative Project, you will apply the skills you have been developing throughout the programme to a creative project that demonstrates your ability to self-direct a response to a brief, from inception to completed product.

    Choose to specialise in one or more of the above subjects

    B1: Personal Progression, you should explore a range of career opportunities, produce valuable materials and demonstrate specialist skills relating to your goals for personal progression.

    B2: Creative Industry Response, you will focus on advancing your practical, critical and reflective skills to produce work in response to an industry brief. You will use the knowledge, understanding and experience you have gained to plan, prepare and develop a proposal for a project and apply advanced skills to carry it out from concept to resolution.

  • Careers/Progression

    This qualification opens doors to various opportunities:

    Progression opportunities include higher education courses, apprenticeships, or internships in areas such as digital media, game design and development, film and television production, web and app development, and marketing.

    You could also move directly into junior creative roles across the industry, such as assistant content creator, game development QA tester, production researcher, junior web developer, or digital marketing assistant.

    The course is 100% internally set and assessed, focusing on project-based learning, including real-world briefs and at least 40 hours of work experience.
