Course overview

This course will build the skills and behaviours to be able to be employed. This may include work with support, but the intention is to support students to be actively employed. The range of jobs are not exhaustive. Students will be supported to follow their interests. Over the duration of the courses students will spend time on supported internships and work placements to help them become job ready..

    3. Project based learning to improve English, maths and communication skills.

    Skills for independence, cooking, using a budget. Skills for work and employment including teamwork, leadership skills, independent research skills using I.T. Decision making and co-operation. Teamwork and problem solving.

    The course will consist of project based learning that will integrate English, Maths and STEM7 skills based on individual areas of interest.

    Progress from work related activity into supported internship and then work experience leading to sustained employment in an area they are interested in.

    What will the student study whilst on the course?

    Communication and literacy at individuals level, Numeracy working with money, time and basic number work to support travelling independently and using a budget at individuals level. Projects to support the community and environment. Equality and diversity being part of a diverse community. Safety at home, in the community and online, safety on transport and at work.

    The intention of this course is to progress into full time employment or higher level study linked to job specific skills.

    Progress onto a higher level qualification.

    Develop independent living skills.

    Take part in a supported internship.

    Secure employment.
