Course overview

This programme will allow students to work as a barber or hairdresser to provide hair cutting, styling and grooming services for men and women.

With this apprenticeship, you could progress down one of two distinctly different career paths - hairdressing or barbering. Hairdressers will shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create various looks, and colour and lighten hair for both males and females. Barbers will shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using barbering techniques, style and finish hair, cut facial hair into shape, and provide shaving services for men.

  • Careers/Progression

    Junior Hairdresser

    As a junior hairdresser you will meet and greet clients. In addition, you will start with general cleaning, shampooing and style hair before moving on to colouring and cutting techniques.

    Apprentice barber

    As an apprentice barber you will meet and greet clients. In addition, you will develop barbering skills on clients and will provide hair and scalp treatments. You will also undertake reception duties and will tidy and clean the salon area.
