Course overview

Autocare technicians work in the automotive industry, typically in autocare or fast fit centres, either independently owned or part of national chains. They combine technical, retail, and customer service skills to inspect, service, and repair cars, vans, and light goods vehicles, including electric or hydrogen-powered models. They use specialist tools and diagnostic equipment, manage stock levels, and ensure high service standards. Technicians communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, handle basic complaints, and complete transactions. They follow health, safety, and environmental regulations, wear appropriate PPE, and take responsibility for their work quality, time management, and task organisation.
