Senior production chefs manage kitchen operations across various environments such as schools, hospitals, care homes, and casual dining. They may lead a team or support the head chef, reporting to a line manager. Their responsibilities include producing and supervising food to consistent standards, ensuring legislative and dietary compliance, and maintaining food safety systems. They help manage budgets, reduce waste, and improve performance and customer experience. Senior production chefs also assist with staff recruitment, training, and team leadership. They contribute to service efficiency, hold team briefings, and ensure menus and recipes meet business needs while supporting revenue and productivity goals.
