Property Maintenance Operative Apprentice

You will work within a team of 2, the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate employs 90+ staff, you must be able to communicate well with the full team and guests. You will interact with guests frequently you must be well presented and polite.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • The role teaches you good basic knowledge of all things maintenance
  • Basic rewire of a plug, change a fuse to changing smashed plug sockets
  • Basic Plumbing, unblock sinks/toilets, change a sink, changing split pipes. Tracking leaks
  • Decorating skills, sanding and prepping areas, painting woodwork and walls
  • Reading door locks and investigating data, changing door lock batteries. Overriding room locks to allow guests entry
  • Fixing broken items (furniture/bed wheels, trolleys)
  • Plus lots more! (external works too)
  • Most of all we will teach you how to be safe! We will introduce you to risk assessments, work permits, you will go through our H&S training e-learning portal and complete modules
  • We use a H&S portal in which we use daily to monitor all areas, we have daily check lists that we need to complete. (fire alarms, ladder safety check, tool checks etc)
  • Some jobs we employee external contractors for like roof work or big plumbing, electrical jobs
  • You will have the chance to observe these works and ask questions
  • Each day is varied and we track our jobs using apps, the staff all have access to post a job in which you will be alerted to the waiting jobs you will need to complete in a timely manner
