Course overview

Do you want to unleash your inner artist? Our Watercolour course lets you realise your creative potential and to improve your confidence in painting. This course will enable you to learn a variety of watercolour painting techniques.

During this one-day course, you will explore botanical imagery as an inspiration to assist the tutor in guiding you step by step, to produce beautiful art for your home. The workshop is aimed at beginners and up to those that are more confident in painting.

The day will consist of learning to paint florals using watercolour.

The morning will start with the tutor doing a demonstration, followed by you undertaking a basic introduction to colour mixing. You will look at scale, observing flower shapes and composition for the painting using thumbnails. Then by mid-morning, and after lunch, all students will start on their final piece of A3 artwork.

You will explore various techniques and taught with confidence, how to interpret what you see, through the brush. You will also be introduced to basic colour mixing techniques, to use this within your work. As well as other watercolour techniques, you will also learn about compositions for your final art piece. This is a lovely mindful class, and you will enjoy the tutor’s enthusiasm and feel encouraged as you learn.

The course will run on a Saturday (10.00-15.30), at the college.

  • Entry Requirements

    Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this course, if further information is required before you start, we are here for an informal chat to make sure the course is right for you.

    All the paper, brushes and paint are provided and are included in the price. Just bring an apron or wear an old shirt to protect your clothes.

    £50 as a course fee to cover tutor fees and materials.

    In this mindful class, you will learn the skills for a creative outlet and will produce your own piece of work. There are no formal assessments and no entry requirements. Not only will the course provide a creative outlet but will give you confidence in exploring this medium.

    The course is for complete beginners and those that want to improve their watercolour skills. ideal for anyone with a passion for painting and who want to explore this further.
