Course overview

Harrogate College welcomes you to come and work with our high spec resources in our amazing photography studios. Our 6-week Digital Photography programmes are designed to work with people from every skill level, from novice, through to specialist and will give you the opportunity to build on skills or learn entirely new ones.

This course is ideal for people who are wanting to study, looking to upskill - or to just find something fun to do!

The programmes on offer will include:

• An introduction to cameras and equipment.
• Camera controls.
• Composition and different photography styles/genres.
• An introduction to editing software.
• How to take photography further.
• Tips for continuous improvement.

Our photography courses are starting in January 2025 and will run on a Tuesday evening, from 6.00pm until 9.00pm, with a set price for a 6-week learning block.

• Entry Requirements
  There are no formal entry requirements. All you need is your own camera and a passion for pictures! Just come and meet like-minded people, learn, and have fun!
• Who is this course for?
  These courses are ideal for people who are considering a study, looking to retrain - or to just find something fun to do!
• Careers/Progression

  The programmes can lead to more advanced photography courses and excellent career development.

  Many photographers are freelance, and you could do a mix of contract work and following your own interests.

  You could extend your range into other areas of photography like product, property, aerial or corporate work.

  Specialist photographers.

  With training, you could work as a press or police photographer. There are also opportunities for photographers in the armed forces.

  If you do specialist qualifications, you could find jobs in medical photography or illustration.
