T Level Technical Qualification in Education and Childcare Year 1

Course overview

T Levels are new courses that follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels. These 2-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of the industry and prepares students for work, further training, or study.

T Levels offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 750 hours over a two-year period.

This qualification is suitable for post-16 students looking to develop both knowledge and practical skills in the health sector.

All students will develop an understanding of:

• Understanding the education and childcare sector from ages 0 to 19
• Child development
• How to support children and young people’s education
• Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
• Understanding and managing behaviour
• Observing and assessing children and young people
• Equality and diversity
• Special educational needs and disability
• English as an additional language
• Working with parents, carers and wider families
• Working with agencies and services that support children, families and carers
• Reflective practice and other forms of professional development

In addition to the core content all students will specialise in:

• Early years education and childcare

• Entry Requirements
  Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths, and science.
• Careers/Progression

  This technical qualification will support students onto a range of progression routes including employment, higher education, and higher-level apprenticeships.
